About
Dr. David Kirk Gallegos is a board-certified otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon serving Santa Fe, New Mexico. A native of Las Vegas, NM, Dr. Gallegos brings a strong commitment to his home state and community-focused care through his work at Christus St. Vincent Ear, Nose and Throat, where he has practiced since 2019.
Dr. Gallegos earned his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2009. He completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (2009–2014), a nationally recognized training program. In 2020, he completed fellowship training with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (2015) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Gallegos holds an active New Mexico medical license and previously practiced in Tennessee from 2014 to 2018.
Since returning to New Mexico, Dr. Gallegos has served as Director of Otolaryngic Allergy (2022–present) and previously as Co-Director of Otolaryngic Allergy and Director of ENT Radiology (Xoran CT) at Christus St. Vincent. He is also President of the Santa Fe Medical Society and an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and the International Sleep Surgery Society.
Prior to relocating to Santa Fe, Dr. Gallegos practiced with Greater Knoxville Ear, Nose, and Throat and held a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment in the Department of Surgery (Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery) at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. He has been actively involved in medical education throughout his career, delivering numerous invited lectures and grand rounds presentations on topics including sinusitis, vestibular disorders, laryngeal cancer, thyroid disease, and epistaxis management. He has also contributed to the Iowa Head and Neck Protocols and has presented research at regional and national meetings, including the Triological Society.
Dr. Gallegos has been recognized among Knoxville’s Top Doctors (2017, 2018) and nominated as one of Albuquerque’s Top Doctors (2021). His professional interests include sinus disease, allergy, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, sleep-related breathing disorders, voice and swallowing disorders, and comprehensive adult and pediatric ENT care.
